Friendship bracelets are one of FASHIONOTES favorite trends this season! We thought we’d put our childhood skills to test, and see if we could make our own BFF bracelets. FASHIONOTES tried out 2 styles, the classic embroidery thread, chevron style bracelet, and a modern chain friendship bracelet. For both styles, we followed Honestly WTF’s tutorials.
DIY Chevron Bracelet
What you’ll need:
- embroidery thread
- tape
- scissors
We used 6 different colors to make our bracelet, but if you prefer the colors to be thicker, you can use less colors. Honestly WTF’s tutorial helped us out to create this classic style!
One thing we seemed to have forgotten since our elementary school days, is how long this style of bracelet takes to make. Apparently we were much more patient back in the day. Allot yourself a couple hours for this project, and also think about doing some pre-project hand stretches to avoid carpal tunnel.
DIY Chain Friendship Bracelet
What you’ll need:
- embroidery thread
- piece of chain or chain bracelet
- clasp
- 2 bobby pins
- scissors
- tape
This is a great modern twist on a friendship bracelet and can be worn with mostly any outfit, casual or dressy. We opted for a piece of gold chain we found at a bead store that was slightly smaller than the chain bracelet Honestly WTF used. Since our chain did not come with a clasp, we ended up knotting the clasp to one end and attaching it to the chain at the other end. Another tip we can offer to make the weaving easier is to tape the top and bottom of the bracelet down to a flat surface.
The best part about this DIY project is that the chain bracelet only takes approximately 15 minutes to make. We’re thinking soon we’ll have an armful of these beauties!
