Welcome to “Beauty Innovation” - a weekly column published every Wednesday to discuss the latest in beauty & technology. The first topic of discussion are the BEST beauty apps of the moment. All apps mentioned below are free to download and have my official stamp of approval. *thumbs up*
1) Think Dirty
Those who are meticulous about the ingredients in their makeup, this app is for you. If you’re looking for a new mascara that is organic or all-natural, the app can tell you about a product’s ingredients as you shop. By scanning the barcode, the app will provide useful information about the product, a list of ingredients and suggestions for similar products that could be ‘cleaner.’
2) OPI
The OPI app provides you with all the original and latest OPI shades you can virtually try on with a hand that matches your skin tone. What I love about the app is browsing through the different collections and chuckling at the shade names (I appreciate a good nail polish pun). I currently love the new Carrie Underwood collection, “Some Hearts” is the ultimate coral shade for Spring/Summer!
There are a handful of beauty tip apps, but this one I believe is the largest and most helpful! You basically have your own beautician on-the-go.
4) Beautylish
The secret to all my hair and makeup inspiration comes from the Beautylish app. Whether you’re having a bad hair day or you’re not quite sure what to do with that new eyeshadow palette, this app provides fantastic photos and tutorials you can try on the go. You also have the opportunity to read and share makeup tips from the Beautylish community and browse though ratings and comments of new items.
Everyone struggles with how they want to cut and dye their hair. Should you get bangs? Go blonde? Make the decision process easier on yourself with this app. See how a variety of hairstyles look on you by adding a photo of yourself and playing with a variety of cuts and colors.
If you know of any other beauty related apps I didn’t mention, comment below or tweet them to us @Fashionotes!
