If you’ve been following us on our social media pages, you may have heard about our FASHIONOTES x WEARABLES Event (#TFWWearables) that took place last Friday at the Thompson Hotel in Toronto. With a trendy crowd combined and tech-savvy designers, we hosted one of the BEST Fashion Week parties in the city!
Thompson’s rooftop elevator opened to city lights flickering from the Toronto skyline and a large screen from the Foursixty projector which displayed LIVE photos from attendees who used the hashtag #TFWWearables on their social media sites! The event was a fashion & technology wearables museum which featured upcoming fashion/tech designers who showcased their latest innovations!
Designers such as Alexandra Haagggard who created HxTag bracelets designed to display medical information, an alternative to traditional medical identification jewellery since they display all your info via phone tagging in case the wearer’s life is in danger and he/she cannot respond.
For those who wanted to try the anticipated frames of the future, CFC Media Lab brought their Google Glass project where attendees lined up to take look at the world from a different, technological perspective.
Eric Boyd‘s Heart Spark and Sound Spark were a huge hit with guests! His Heart Spark necklace lit on the wearer every time their heart beat and his Sound Spark necklaces lit up based on voices and noises surrounding the wearer.
Wearable LEDS from MeU made an appearance and were a definite conversation piece. You can expect to see these LED dresses, shirts and coats displayed in the foreseeable future since they received rave reviews and are great to wear at a concert or when you need to be seen at night.
Everyone was in awe of Social Body Lab‘s Monarch Wings which flapped every time the model flexed. Are we one step closer to being able to fly? POSSIBLY! ..right?
During the middle of the event, dancers gathered in the middle of the crowd and sported SoMo by Sonic Wear which created music and sounds based on their movements. An artistic performance that made everyone tilt their head and ask, “how are they doing this?” MAGIC! Or just impressively cool technological sound waves.
For athletes who want to be seen at night while running, Vega Edge has created Vega Wearable Lights, subtle lights embedded into clothing so people can see the wearer in the dark.
Lastly, the Voye Clutch from Voye has a designated section for your SmartPhone which allows you to text, take pictures and make calls without removing your phone from the bag! The Voye is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand as a clutch and can be worn over your shoulder with a detachable strap.
