It’s all about feminine florals at the Chanel spring 2015 couture show and Karl Lagerfeld fills us in on the inspiration for this season’s collection. Always inspiring and the constant visionary behind Chanel’s line each season, Lagerfeld gives a new meaning to theatrical production at this year’s Paris Fashion Week. This couture show was all about a paradise, with mechanical “blossoming” flowers, which took six months to build.
The spring Chanel couture show was all about the beauty and richness of spring, set in a glass house style space with sky box lighting. The collection was a curated flurry of dreamy glitter, sequin and chiffon. Uber feminine, looks like ballerina skirts with sequin and floral applique, tiered frocks, embellished crop tops and mod-esque inspired looks paired with Edwardian-style hats dawned the runway.
The palette was soft and pastel then it was bold, a broad spectrum of spring inspired colors from flowers in nature. Lagerfeld was inspired by layering and described the collection as “pleasant and graceful.” He also described the construction process; “All garments were cut on the bias in true couture fashion to accentuate the female form” and the result was a playful feel to couture.
