The most anticipated fashion event of the season, the Met Gala came in with a fierce futuristic – techy wave that was truly next level. Known for gathering some of the brightest stars, from philanthropy and art; from A-lister’s to celebrities, the Met Gala is the most sought after fashion party. Last year’s theme Through The Looking Glass focused on Asian influence in fashion, however this year was different. With the rise of sustainable fashion and wearable tech, the theme Manus x Machina couldn’t have been timelier. Futuristic flair in the form of chrome, silver and LED optics truly ruled the event.
While our favorites hit the Met Gala red carpet such as: Rita Ora, Lupita Nygonyo, Ciara, Solange and Beyoncé, the scene stealer of the night was actress Claire Danes in the most futuristic princess gown by Zac Posen. The dress was stunning, but once it lit up in the dark, it was a fiber optic dream. Talk about staying true to theme and creating a dress of the moment! This dress truly stole the night, depicting the marriage of tech and fashion.
This dress was inspired by a modern Cinderella and we think Zac nailed it! We also loved Karolina Kurkova’s beautiful Marchesa and Watson, IBM’s friendly cognitive computer mood gown, which was a LED dream and tied to social media posts. The dress had 150 LED-connected flowers and was beyond exquisite!
It was truly a night celebrating advances in technology, art, fashion and killer futuristic style. The future is now, we can’t wait for tech/sustainable clothing to be the norm.
