Why keep an old pair of jeans when you can easily exchange it for a new one? Leasing your clothes may be a foreign concept, but it’s the next best thing to stay in style while reducing waste. Check out how Mud Jeans is changing the denim game.
There isn’t a better feeling than finding that perfect pair of jeans. But let’s face it, one day, that perfect pair won’t be so perfect anymore. They’ve either stretched out, faded or flat out don’t suit your style. And, all these pairs religiously make their way to the back of your closet never to be seen or worn again. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Mud Jeans is a Dutch denim company ready to shake up the denim lifecycle and save those abandoned pairs of jeans. Mud Jeans eliminates clothing waste by being the sole owner of its jeans. Its Lease A Jeans concept is a guilt-free consumption approach to wearing your favourite pair without ever actually owning them.
Consumers can lease a pair of Mud Jeans for a year with a monthly fee. After 12 months they have the option to either keep the pair, return them (and received a voucher for a future purchase) or exchange them for a new pair. That way you get to update your look without creating any waste —not to mention, saving on some closet space!
The returned pairs are either up-cycled and sold as unique vintage pairs. These pairs are named after their former user. Or, for worn out jeans, they are shredded, cut into pieces and blended with virgin cotton to create new denim yarn. And the denim loop starts over again.
On top of being a pioneer for the environmentally-friendly denim industry, Mud Jeans also understands the struggle of finding that perfect pair of jeans. Don’t we always say your room is the best fitting room? Mud Jeans knows this and that’s why they make it extra easy for you to find that perfect pair. Its Home Try program sends you three pairs of jeans but you only pay for one. You have five days to try on the different pairs and resend the unwanted pairs back with a prepaid shipping box.
Finding the perfect fit in the comfort of your own bedroom and exchanging the pair after a year for something new ALL WHILE being environmentally-friendly? That sounds like the perfect pair of jeans if there ever was one!
