Parisian designer, Marine Serre explores an apocalyptic post-climate change AI world for their SS20 collection.
Marine Serre’s newest campaign tells a story of what a fashion apocalypse would look like using AI models and is reminiscent of her past AW19 collection campaign, Radiation. As a futurewear designer, Marine Serre’s campaign entitled, Marée Noire, features AI models in a beautifully curated dystopian dream world.
The use of digital models and AI in fashion has been an inevitable response by brands to how we consume fashion content in today’s age. The rise of technology created models in social media like Lil’ Miquela and Shudu prove that the lifeblood of models is shifting and also speaks to the fusing of fashion and art mediums.
This season Marine Serre’s collaboration for an AI world and playing with the dynamics of the digital and physical include a partnership with collective studio, Actual Objects. The collective continues to create edgy and graphic AI-based works for artists in the creative space for bodies like Trippie Redd, Bad Bunny, and fashion brand, The North Face.
The newest AI film Marée Noire, depicts a dreamy and dark apocalyptic world, where otherworldly CGI (computer-generated imagery) models walkabout in SS20 creations. The models can be seen stepping out of a body of water, hammering sparking pipelines and relaxing in the jungle. The latest SS20 collection pieces are bold and ultra graphic.
The rendition of mixed media is present in this collection with the use of futuristic print combos that include zebra, floral and the signature moon print. Each garment seems to be inspired by a new Mad Max aesthetic which pairs well with the apocalyptic world created by the designer. We can expect that Marine will continue to create more worlds of wonder and cannot wait to see what Mme. Serre has planned for her AW20 collection.
