It might not be Michelangelo’s statue of David, but we definitely aren’t complaining! H&M has come up with possibly the most attractive creative campaign yet, and it’s all in the name of their new underwear line featuring our favorite British dreamboat - David Beckham.
The Swedish retailer has scattered giant silvery statues throughout each of the three major cities involved in the campaign; New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In New York alone there are three placed inside H&M stores, and another three on the city streets. We think a silver David Beckham statue is a way better tourist attraction than those street artists who dress themselves as robots, but that’s just us.
With the campaign in mind, H&M wants you to be a tourist from August 16th to the 31st. By taking a photo of yourself with Instagram beside the David Beckham statue and using the hashtag #HMBeckham. And as pointed out by Fashionista, the statue puts people of average height at eye level with Beckham’s package, which should make for some interesting Instagram shots.
Each photo counts as one entry to win a $1000 H&M shopping spree, David Beckham for H&M underwear signed by the soccer superstar, or a 1-foot-tall limited edition David Beckham for H&M statue (O-M-G). Check out the official print ads for the campaign below. We have to admit, we prefer a tattoo covered Beckham to the silver one.
