Kanye West is back with his Yeezy Season 2 collection. This time with a live stream and runway show, the collection is all about celebrities, understated aesthetic and of course the man himself. Probably one of the most likely style pairings, the collaboration between Kanye and Adidas is beyond perfection. This season, Kanye brings new military back with a futuristic aesthetic for the second installment.
In true Season 1 fashion, the second season did not deviate from the more artsy fashion presentation. With social media taking front seat at the show, special VIP invites in the form of camo tees were sent out to lucky attendees and Instagramed for quick sharing and instant envy. The invites were tickets to view the live stream via movie theatres of the NYFW show. If you couldn’t make it to the show and sit front row fresh with these A-listers, Periscope and Instagram was your life saver. But, we can’t get enough of this season’s front row squad like Kim Kardashian and North who were in Yeezy 2 looks.
The buzz around the show was definitely social media worthy, #bts and runway show were snapped within minutes for Instagram, but no doubt fans were ready for season 2. In an almost continuous way, season 2 gave us the sequel to season 1. Taking from season 1’s minimal palette, this new season was all about the skin tone palette. The looks were geniousley paired to the models according to each of their skin tones. Model newcomers and cool kid model crew Amina Blue, Adonis, Luka Sabbat, Ian Connor were spotted in the presentation, in the luxe, layered and understated looks.
Drawing inspiration from Mad Max and Military style, the balance was on point. With standout looks like the relaxed bomber, skin tight body cons, skin tone tees, netted tops, hoodies and oversized coats gave us elevated normcore. New colorways of the Yeezy 750 Boost and the Yeezy 950 and streamlined ankle boots for women stole the show. While luxe normcore just may be Kanye’s apparent aesthetic, the collection offers a more chic and relaxed alternative to dressing with a sporty edge. While the unique presentation of Yeezy 2 garnered killer buzz at NYFW, so did the new single “I Feel It.” From music to fashion and maybe politics, Yeezy is slaying the runway, next season can’t come soon enough!
