As if anyone on Earth wouldn’t be aware at this point, the annual MET Gala was last night and the fabled circus of fashionistas spun at full speed. Our phones were war central: Instagram, Twitter and Safari were running at the same time. Yesterday was a time-capsule moment as the Costume Institute was renamed with a ribbon cut ceremony officiated by First Lady Michelle Obama.
Tradition and ritual established by Diana Vreeland, the Met Gala is one of the last red- carpet of the season and definitely the most anticipated and prepped for. In good and in bad, for better and for worst, it was a shower of gowns, glamour, big hair and diamonds. Let’s not forget that the Gala is the inauguration ball to the MET Costume Institute exhibition that this year is a retrospective of the massive, innovative and revolutionary work of Charles James.
